AEON post another song of new album “Path Of Fire” on MySpace!
Satanic Death Metallers AEON from Sweden have posted the second song of their upcoming new album Path Of Fire on MySpace. Please check out the bands MySpace to stream the song Suffer The Soul!
AEON recorded Path Of Fire in Sweden while it was mixed by multi-talent Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal) at Mana Studio in Florida. Mastering was done by Alan Douches at West West Side Music.
Path Of Fire is probably the most intense AEON album to date. And with a production that is more organic and “classic death metal” sounding rather then the nowadays typical “super modern, compressed-right-the-fuck-out-of-dynamics, loudness war” production, you are all in for a real treat. Folks, this IS death metal!
“Forgiveness Denied”. AEON will film a video for this song later on this month with the Standard Film Team that worked a.o. with Dark Funeral in the past.
AEON’s Path Of Fire is set for release May 21/24 via Metal Blade Records in Europe!

DEW-SCENTED stream whole new album online at Terrorizer! Recap past gigs, announces new gigs!
DEW-SCENTED have their whole new album Invocation streamed for a full week starting Monday May 17, 2010 up until release date in the UK on May 24, 2010.
Hear it here: http://www.truecultheavymetal.com/radio/popup-player.html
Invocation is DEW-SCENTED’s first album for Metal Blade and was recorded and mixed at Soundlodge Studio in Northern Germany with producer Jörg Uken (God Dethroned, Sinister etc.).
Meanwhile DEW-SCENTED have posted an update on new shows and recap the past few, quite prestigious gigs.
“Hey everyone!
DEW-SCENTED are back home again after some cool shows in these last weekends, so let us give you a small re-cap.
Playing with Bolt Thrower is totally awesome! Great band, great crew, great crowds! We are enjoying every minute of it and look forward to seeing them again this coming Sunday in Luxembourg for a final gig! Truly an outstanding, inspiring band on all levels and a pleasure to finally be able to share stages with them! Thanks for having us!!!
Additionally, it was great to team up with Rotting Christ and Asphyx as well! The Neurotic Deathfest (sold out!) was an awesome day with a killer line-up and tons of buddies from other bands hanging around having a good time! It was cool to see our show turning out to be pretty intense and well attended even though we were worried not to be “brutal death” enough at first. And it was of course great to return to France (Paris and Lyon) and see so many familiar faces there too! We will come back soon…
Oh yeah, and along the way we also supported Heathen (together with our friends in Contradiction) at Essen’s great Turock venue! The place was packed with Thrashers, old and young, making it an amazing set for everyone! Would have been cool to play some more shows with Heathen, well, maybe next time!?
In other live-news, we regretfully have to announce that Atheist changed plans in their summer schedule and were forced to pull their whole European visit. Therefor we will unfortunately no longer be playing the previously announced June shows in London (UK), Cologne (D) and Groningen (NL). Too bad! Additionally, the local promoter of the show with Destinity in Colmar (France) on May 14th has also decided to cancel the gig. Sucks ;-(
Please however take notice that DEW-SCENTED are still ON to play Hellfest in France on Saturday, June 19th as a one-off (we play as early as 10:30 AM opening the main stages!), so hope to see some of you there!!! We will provide a heavy awakening, that’s for sure!
In better news, we have recently added some really cool new festival dates to our summer schedule: Caos Emergente in Portugal on July 16th and then the German festivals Bang Your Head!!! on July 17th, Baden In Blut on July 31st (therefore we flipped the day of Eisenwahn Festival to Friday July 30th now!) and the Turock Open Air (free show!) on September 10th. See below for more details and make sure to also check out our complete list of upcoming live-shows:
FR 16.07. Viseu / São Pedro do Sul (Portugal) - Caos Emergente Open Air Festival 2010

Seeing that the release dates of our new album “Invocation” are finally coming closer, we have also started playing some more new songs in our live set. Next to “Arise From Decay”, we have now also added “Condemnation” and “Have No Mercy On Us”, and that’s working out just great!”
Invocation will contain 12 songs in its regular edition and an additional two bonus tracks for the limited first pressing Digipak version via Metal Blade Records in Europe.
Invocation is set for release May 21/24 via Metal Blade Records in Europe!

Spanish Symphonic Gothic Metallers DIABULUS IN MUSICA post second new song of their upcoming debut album “Secrets”! Announce more live shows!
Female fronted Spanish symphonic gothic metallers DIABULUS IN MUSICA have uploaded the second new song of their much anticipated debut album Secrets!
Please surf over to the bands MySpace to check out New Era!
Secrets was engineered by the prestigious Spanish tech-producer Iñaki Llarena and mixed by former EPICA guitar player Ad Sluijter who was blown away by the stuff DIM sent to him. Last but not least, DIM is supported by the invaluable expertise of Sascha Paeth, Simon Oberender and Michael (Miro) Rodenberg who mastered Secrets in the Gate studios in Wolfsburg, Germany.
DIABULUS IN MUSICA managed to record an equilibrated album, including self arranged classical music elements, catchy melodies as well as darker and harsher sounds, so an eclectic but perfectly fused style is what we can find on Secrets. The metaphorical lyrics of the versatile singer Zuberoa, express personal feelings and worries but we can also find some anthems to nature and freedom or mythological themes.
The Spanish band also confirmed a couple of gigs. Please spread the word.
DIABULUS IN MUSICA
28/05/10 – ES - Pamplona – Civivox Iturrama (acoustic show)
05/06/10 – ES – Aizoáin – Sala Movie (release show)

19/06/10 – MX - Venustiano Carranza – El Circo Volador (with Theatre Of Tragedy)

LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH post first song off ‘The Extra Dimensional Wound’
LA underground black metal act, LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH are pleased to post the first song for the band’s upcoming Metal Blade debut The Extra Dimensional Wound, out May 21/24 in Europe!
The Extra Dimensional Wound was recorded in Corona, CA at Trench Studios with Roskva from the band producing and John Haddad handling engineering duties, and was mixed and mastered by Sverker “Necro” Widgren at Necromorbus Studios in Stockholm Sweden.
It began seven years ago when a pact was made within a dilapidated house hidden in Southern California. It was here that Autarch, Roskva and Menno found themselves in agreement that should the occult sciences be applied to music, the results would prove extremely dangerous to their sanity, yet yield spectacular results. LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH, as they would name it, would be in itself a meticulously designed hyper-sigil constructed to direct and antagonize the limitless dark energy that lurks within the less navigable chasms of the human mind and the space between spaces.
Enter 2009; LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH signed a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records and continued to push their brand of brazen black metal through their DYI attitude, getting multiple tracks on the PSP game UNDEAD KNIGHTS as well as a track featured on the soundtrack for the horror/thriller movie Stepfather (October 2009). LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH budding reputation as a relentless and must see black metal act also earned the band a coveted spot on the Evangelia Amerika Tour, headlined by Behemoth and joined by Septicflesh of Greece, which kicked off in January 2010. In anticipation of the release of the band’s debut Metal Blade album The Extra Dimensional Wound the band toured the western and southern US during March 2010 with none other than Kreator, Kataklysm, Evile and Lazarus A.D. LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH even landed a highly sought after spot opening up the Los Angeles show for legendary black metalers Immortal!

OSI signed with Metal Blade Records!
OSI (Office Of Strategic Influence), the hard rock duo formed by Jim Matheos (Fates Warning) and Kevin Moore (Chroma Key, Dream Theater), has inked a deal with Metal Blade Records! The band has gained a strong underground following since its inception in 2003. OSI already has 3 full length records and an EP in its catalogue of music. Their 2009 album, Blood and includes guests Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) and Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth). Past participants include Mike Portnoy on the first two albums, Sean Malone and Steven Wilson on the debut, and Joey Vera (Armored Saint, Fates Warning) on Free. OSI is currently working on their fourth album and Metal Blade debut for a late 2010 release.
OSI’s music can’t easily be pigeonholed and is a completely different animal when compared to its founders’ other projects. The music is a combination of dark rock chorus’ with atmospheric, often industrial keys and is an eclectic mix of both Moore’s and Matheos’ influences.
Metal Blade founder and CEO Brian Slagel adds: “We are very excited to welcome OSI to the Metal Blade Family. I have been a big fan of the band and all of us here can’t wait to work on the new album.”
Keep an eye out for more news and updates as the band continues work on their new album!

RETURN TO EARTH sophomore effort, ‘Automata,’ set to hit streets this August
The brand new track ‘You Will Be Replaced’ currently streaming on MySpace!
Jersey-based aggressive hard rock outfit RETURN TO EARTH, featuring the talents of Ron Scalzo, Brett Aveni, and Chris Pennie (Coheed & Cambria, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan), are pleased to announce the release date of their sophomore release titled Automata which will be hitting streets this summer on August 13/16. Drums and vocals for Automata were tracked in Dover, NJ at Backroom Studios where drummer Chris Pennie regularly rehearses. Guitar tracks along with additional production were recorded in guitarist Brett’s basement, which the band so affectionately refers to as “The Boiler Room” as the space acts as both a recording studio and housing for Brett’s boiler.
Mixing for Automata was handled by Guns N’ Roses’ Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal who also happened to mix RTE’s first album Captains of Industry and polished up what turned out to be quite an ambitious multi-track recording. Automata was self produced by Chris and Brett under their new production company, Fight Mannequins. Brett comments: “We wanted complete control over the proceedings, as we felt that only we knew what was best to get the songs across.” Vocalist Ron Scalzo adds: “After going about the recording process modestly for our first album, Captains of Industry, we decided to up the ante for Automata - better studios and mics, more tracks, more gear - we wanted to create a heavier, denser sound with more dynamics this time around. Heavier and denser can be a nightmare without the proper mix, and our old friend Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal once again made magic with more tracks than most sane people would dare to blend together to make everything sound cohesive. With file management not necessarily being our ’strong suit’, Mr. Thal once again outdid himself trying to piece all the madness together.”
In honor of the upcoming release of Automata, RTE has posted the brand new track You Will Be Replaced on their MySpace page. Guitarist Brett Aveni recently posted a blog explaining the concepts behind each track on Automata, which is more a group of themes than a running story line that one would find with a concept album.
“(You Will Be Replaced is) about the tenuous nature of humanity - how easily replaceable we are, as workers, as partners - coming to the forefront; and our recognition and ultimate fight for survival against the technology that threatens to take over, against machine replacing mankind.”
Automata is the follow-up to the band’s 2007 debut Captains of Industry and will be available August 13/16!
About the band:
RETURN TO EARTH is the amalgamation of the musical talents of Ron Scalzo, Brett Aveni, and Chris Pennie; three veteran and visionary musicians whose material can’t be pigeonholed to one genre or easily classified. You’ll hear bits and pieces of their influences and other projects and those bits and pieces come together to form the unique whole that is RETURN TO EARTH.
All three members of RTE sport impressive musical resumes - Pennie, in particular, hones his craft as one of the most heralded drummers working today. His groundbreaking drum style provides the backbone for RTE’s aggressive brand of rock. Pennie also wrote a lot of the material & contributed in the form of synth & loop programming. “Brett & I have been itching to work with Chris for years,” admits Scalzo. “He’s one of those prodigies that make the rest of wonder why we even bother trying to make music.”
Brooklyn native Scalzo is no slouch in the music-making department, having achieved moderate success as electro-rock singer/songwriter Q*Ball. With three self-released critically-acclaimed albums under his belt, Scalzo has purveyed that moderate success – and a lot of long hours – into an underground DIY label, Bald Freak Music. The upstart’s growing roster includes Guns N’ Roses guitarist Bumblefoot, who releases his impressive solo work on the label, and buzz-worthy pirate metal band Swashbuckle.
“You blink your eyes these days & the industry has already shifted another 30 degrees to the left,” says Scalzo. “I was tired of playing ‘the game’ – trying to fashion an image, a look, a musical style that would impress all the wrong people. I wanted to make music that I wanted to make, and the only way I was going to do that on my own terms was to release it myself.”
